The situation with now-former Baltimore Ravens’ running back Ray Rice unfolded swiftly and publicly over the course of the day on Monday. Those who follow the NFL, as well as those who are actually in the league, reacted to the news and processed it as it happened.

Once the video of Rice hitting Janay Palmer actually surfaced, reactions were aplenty on social media. That included firm takes from current and former NFL players that Rice needed to be released and even be kicked out of the league. Rice was eventually released by the Ravens this afternoon.
That is not a complicated issue for any NFL player, of course, but surely some felt the sting of having that opinion more than others. So even as the Ravens themselves were reported to be thinking it was time for Rice to go, one imagines they were affected by what was happening more than others.
On that front, Jeff Darlington passes along the following quote from Ravens’ defensive tackle Chris Canty.
An emotional Chris Canty on former Ravens teammate Ray Rice: “I hate the sin, but I love the sinner."

This was the same line that head coach John Harbaugh faced in his press conference, to express disappointment at what happened and to say that you want to support Rice in the future, even if you find what he did despicable. Canty dealt with that issue here when asked about the situation.
