The NFL has finally dealt with Ray Rice in the proper way it should have a while ago, but it seems we may only still be at the beginning of this story.

Rice was suspended by the NFL and released by the Baltimore Ravens following the release of footage that showed him savagely sucker punching his then-fiance and current wife in the elevator of a hotel. the reaction since the release has been swift but Rice may seek legal action to protect his employment in the NFL.
According to Michael McCann from SI.com, the Ravens may be on the receiving end of a lawsuit, but Rice would be foolish to try and file a suit that won’t go anywhere.
"Rice might also contemplate legal action against the Ravens for cutting him, but any lawsuit against the team would likely go nowhere. NFL teams can easily cut players for any lawful reason, and cutting a player embroiled in a domestic violence matter is surely a lawful reason. The fact that the Ravens originally supported Rice does not bar the team from changing its mind."
Given the context of the situation, it’s really hard to argue wrongful termination in this instance and it’s hard to defend Rice at all. There is no reason to ever lay hands on a woman in an aggressive manner and no argument can justifiably lead to abuse. Rice may not feel the same way though, and that’s the reason he’s in the unemployed situation he’s in right now.
