Plenty of current and former NFL players are speaking out against Ray Rice since video leaked that showed the Baltimore Ravens running back striking his then fiancee and knocking her unconscious.

More from Baltimore Ravens

There has been plenty of outrage and people calling for a lengthier suspension, but this is a situation that means far more than football.

It also is a lot closer to home for some people, who have watched lives ruined or taken because of domestic abuse and that is the case for Pittsburgh Steelers defensive back William Gay.

For Gay, football is not important when it comes to this situation and he plans on reaching out the Ray Rice, who Gay says needs help.

Many players, fans and media members are coming down hard on Rice for his inexcusable actions, but Gay does have a point that Rice has some serious issues and they need to be addressed before someone’s life gets put in danger again.
