What didn’t we see from Apple?

Today, Apple unveiled the iPhone 6, iPhone 6 Plus, and the Apple Watch.  While the highly anticipated special event definitely lived up to its billing, we as a nation are always going to be looking for more.  So while each of those things were impressive, what didn’t we see from Apple today?

To be frank, not a whole lot.  Apple really took the veil off of a lot of the products we have heard rumored lately.  That being said, there are still a couple of nuggets of information waiting to be shared from California.

First, the iPad.  Although there is already a strong stable of iPad offerings, Apple is expected to come out with another new version of the device.  The newest iPad is expected to be around 12 inches, larger than the current 9.7 inch models, and allowing for a much bigger tablet feel.  It wasn’t expected to make an appearance today however, and it didn’t.

Apple is expected to unveil the next iPad at an event of its own later this fall.

Secondly, OS X Yosemite.  The newest operating system has been announced and detailed for Mac computers, but it has not yet been given a release date.  Today seemed like a possibility, but it likely would have detracted from the more mobile offerings that Apple was bringing to the market.

Finally, a mentioning of Beats and Apple together would have maybe made sense as well.  As U2 was brought to the stage, or as the Apple Watch was shown off, Beats could have been easily integrated.  That being said, today’s event was about showing products and gaining awareness, discussing Beats would have been more on the business side.

Although those three things were omitted from today’s special event, Apple definitely had an impressive showing, and should be in a great position heading into the holiday season.
