No, James is still the same uber-talented player that he’s always been, but the former MVP is a shell of his former self after dropping a significant amount of weight this offseason. Talk of the dropped pounds was all the rage a few weeks back and many are wondering if James’ new svelter look will harm his game.
That of course remains to be seen thought the Cleveland Cavaliers appear to have no concerns according to Sam Amico.
Asked by a fan during his weekly chat if the Cavs were concerned about James’ new look, Amico gave the following response:
"Nope. No worries from the team. In fact, I can tell you it’s only fans who worry. The team thinks it’s in great shape. And I don’t blame it."
LeBron James of course spends a significant amount of time in the paint and using his strength against smaller talent, though even a slimmed down King James is bigger than most. Add in his absurdly unique quickness and you really don’t have much reason to worry if you’re the Cleveland Cavaliers.
In fact, LeBron James shedding weight is likely a good thing as the cramps that have persistently bothered him are likely to be few and far between while the lost weight will likely help his health from a long-term standpoint.
Multiple other players, including Carmelo Anthony of the New York Knicks, also decided to drop pounds this offseason.
