New York Knicks’ Carmelo Anthony screws your team up says Hawks GM

Ever since Carmelo Anthony came out of Syracuse, the knock on the All-Star forward is that he’s a fantastic scorer but does little else on the court.

Such a sentiment was likely true during Anthony’s first few seasons in the NBA though he’s become more of an all-around player for the New York Knicks. However, shamed Atlanta Hawks general manager Danny Ferry doesn’t see it and seemingly blasted the Knicks forward during free agency.
Ferry, who is already dealing with fallout from alleged racist remarks at the Miami Heat’s Luol Deng suggested Anthony is a top-notch player when it comes to shooting but he will screw your team up outside of that.
"The call proceeded with Ferry hustling through free agent names, a list that included Carmelo Anthony: “He can shoot the [expletive] out of it, but he screws you up in other ways,” Ferry said, according to a transcript obtained by Yahoo Sports."
Of course, unlike the alleged Deng comments, there’s nothing wrong with Ferry’s ‘scouting report’ on Carmelo Anthony as he’s entitled to his own opinion. That said, it’s probably not going to be looked upon very favorably by those around the league or Anthony himself.
Still, despite Ferry’s less than enthusiastic view on Carmelo Anthony, the Atlanta Hawks GM did say he’d likely sign Anthony to a $20 million dollar annual contract if the situation presented itself.
Atlanta was said to have some interest in Carmelo Anthony during free agency, though, were never a serious suitor to sign him away from the New York Knicks.
