Reed, a favorite target of Griffin, suffered a hamstring injury during Washington’s Week 1 loss and was unable to return to the game. There was hope that he’d be able to recover in time for the Washington Redskins tilt against the Jacksonville Jaguars but that won’t be the case.
The news was oddly announced by the aforementioned Robert Griffin, who told the media Jordan Reed would be sidelined this week.

It’s a tough loss for the Redskins, not only because of Reed’s pass catching ability but also considering the tight end is a very capable blocker. Now Washington will likely need to rely on Logan Paulsen for blocking while Niles Paul may see action on obvious passing downs.
Jordan Reed was a favorite to lead the Washington Redskins in receptions this season, however, there were understandable concerns regarding his inability to stay on the field. Reed was forced from action last year thanks to multiple concussions though it’s not known how long his current hamstring injury will keep him out.
Severe strains can linger for a significant amount of time so the hope is that Reed suffered a more basic strain and will only need to miss a week of action.
