You may recall a few months back there was a significant amount of noise surrounding Los Angeles Dodgers star Yasiel Puig and how he made his way to America.

There were allegations of smuggling, drugs and even death threats involved in the Puig story. Thankfully it appears the Dodgers outfielder can sleep a bit safer this evening after a man was arrested and charged in the smuggling case.
Yasiel Puig reportedly had to pay $250,000 to fund the trip and not having the needed money, then had a debt on his head as it was paid by the alleged smuggler. That money was allegedly never paid back which lead to the reported threats.
"A South Florida man has been arrested for his alleged role in a smuggling venture that brought Los Angeles Dodgers star Yasiel Puig out of Cuba, according to court records. The records show Gilberto Suarez is scheduled to make an initial appearance Thursday in Miami federal court on a charge of alien smuggling. Suarez was arrested Wednesday and it wasn’t immediately clear if he had an attorney."
Not long after Puig made his way to America he signed a seven-year, $42 million dollar contract with the Los Angeles Dodgers. That of course didn’t sit well with those who felt they deserved to be reimbursed, leading to a scenario which sounds more like a Hollywood movie plot.
This may not be the last we hear of this story though it appears as if the Dodgers’ outfielder can finally have a bit of closure regarding the situation.
