Pardon me…Joe Flacco only has eyes for Steve Smith senior on Thursday night.
With his newest weapon playing well in his first two games as a member of the Ravens, Flacco has targeted Smith often. He has looked for him deep and looked for him on short routes. At one point he targeted him for three straight plays in the red zone.
Focusing on Smith might not be a bad plan for Flacco, though it comes at the expense of incumbents like Torrey Smith, Dennis Pitta, and Jacoby Jones. That might even happen on plays where those guys find themselves wide open.
Jones had that happen during his team’s game against the Steelers. Standing wide open in the corner of the end zone, Jones could not get Flacco’s attention…no matter what he did:
It’s a rule of nature: it’s not a good look for anybody, even a professional football player, to frantically jump around while waving your arms around.
