Appearing at a screening for the upcoming Starz series “Survivor’s Remorse,” which is being produced by a company owned by Cleveland Cavaliers superstar LeBron James and his business partner Maverick Carter, Manziel was involved in a short question-and-answer session following two episodes of the show at the Capitol Theater in Cleveland.
The show is a work of fiction, and follows a young basketball star and the pressures of becoming famous and rich quickly. Manziel was invited to the screening and reception because Carter thought Manziel knew the pitfalls of success and fame all too well. Manziel had no involvement in the making of “Survivor’s Remorse.”
“People came into my life like Maverick, like LeBron who helped change his life for the better”, Manziel said.”I feel like I couldn’t be happier being in a place like Cleveland, being with the Cleveland Browns.”
Manziel signed with Carter’s management company, LRMR, in January.
Manziel and the Browns will host the New Orleans Saints in Cleveland on Sunday, the Brown’s home opener. Manziel is slated as the backup behind Brian Hoyer, but Manziel knows he’s going to have to perform to have people remember his name.
“Performance is first,” said Manziel. “This team here in Cleveland. Performance is what will keep your name relevant and keep your name a household name.”
