Nobody knows if the Boston Celtics truly plan to trade All-Star point guard Rajon Rondo or even when they’ll be willing to do so if they are open to a move.

More from Houston Rockets

Just about every team with a need at the one position has been said to have interest in the former Kentucky guard, though Sean Deveney of Sporting News seems to think there might be a dark horse in the race for Rondo’s services.

While he’s already noted the Oklahoma City Thunder as an intriguing possibility, Deveny also suggested the Houston Rockets as a team that could have interest in trading for Rajon Rondo.

Asked by Celtics Blog who would be a team that could be a potential Rondo suitor that we haven’t heard much about, Deveny hinted the Rockets.

"Houston is certainly one. But I would keep an eye on teams willing to make sign-and-trades, and willing to play point guards together."

The Rockets are an obvious choice considering they’ve been on a constant search to find a third ‘star’ to place alongside James Harden and Dwight Howard. Add in their lack of depth at the point guard position after trading Jeremy Lin to the Los Angeles Lakers and there may not be a better fit for the Rockets across the league.

Of course, the Houston Rockets aren’t exactly overflowing in assets and it seems difficult to think they’d be able to beat an offer from a team more ripe with such.

Still, they certainly remain an interesting possibility if the Celtics do decide to cut ties.
