Those who play professional sports are competitive by nature and it doesn’t just translate onto the field.

That’s something Washington Nationals outfielder Jayson Werth recently realized after he attempted to join in on the Nats’ fantasy football league. Only problem? He received a cold shoulder. Was it because Jayson Werth was too good? Continually beating his teammates in the virtual football game? Not hardly. It’s because Jayson Werth doesn’t pay his debts, at least when it comes to fantasy football.
Speaking to the Washington Post about some of their clubhouse activities, pitcher Craig Stammen dropped the hilarious nugget.
"Stammen said the competitiveness of the league tends to weed out the players who aren’t especially into it, but he made an executive decision to give a Nats veteran the boot.“We kicked Jayson Werth out of the league this year,” Stammen said. “Jayson failed to pay last year. He didn’t pay until spring training, so we kicked him out of the league for late payment.”"
On one side, it’s not as if Werth didn’t cough up the dough, he was just extremely late. Then again, the last thing you want is to wait to crown the league champ because some rouge player decided he didn’t have to pay. Given that, I have to agree with the Washington Nationals – Jayson Werth had to go.
As for the rest of the team, according to Stammen, Jordan Zimmermann seems to be the best fantasy player while Steven Strasburg is the guy who can’t get enough of the waiver wire.
