If you, as a professional athlete decide you want to have your own personal celebration, you better be ready to wear it when things aren’t going so well.

More from Carolina Panthers

That’s something Carolina Panthers quarterback Cam Newton has experienced on more than one occasion, none more famous than San Francisco 49ers quarterback Colin Kapernick mocking Newton during their postseason matchup.

It was more of the same today, though replacing Kapernick were the Detroit Lions.

After sacking Cam Newton, the Lions emerged from the tackle and promptly unleashed the ‘Superman’ move Newton is so famous for.

Of course, it’s best to troll when you’re blowing out a team. That’s not exactly what the Detroit Lions are doing. In fact, at the time of the trolling, the Lions were actually trailing Cam Newton and his Carolina Panthers by a score of 6-0.

Will Carolina’s lead remain? That’s a tough call considering the impressive arsenal of weapons the Detroit Lions’ offense includes, though the Panthers’ defense is no slouch either.

In regards to Newton, he doesn’t seem to mind the ribbing as he’s continued to use his famed ‘celebration’ and doesn’t appear ready to stop at any point in the near future.

He’s also handling the harassment from the Lions rather well as they earlier stood over the top of Newton after he was taken down on a play.

Update: Looks like the mocking may have worked in Detroit’s favor as the Lions just took a 7-6 lead in the third quarter thanks to a one-yard passing touchdown.
