The Oklahoma Sooners are on a roll early to start the 2014 season, and they’re coming off a huge win over the Tennessee Volunteers of the SEC. Now, they will get set to take on their Big 12 schedule, although they will be doing so without one of their key pieces on offense, running back Keith Ford.

Ford, who rushed for 56 yards in the win against Tennessee on Saturday and scored two touchdowns, began to noticeably limp heading into the fourth quarter. Early on in the fourth, he would eventually walk back to the locker room and end his night.
Well on Monday, head coach Bob Stoops revealed that they will be without Ford for 2-3 weeks, at the very least, as he has been diagnosed with a fractured foot.
Bob Stoops says Oklahoma RB Keith Ford will be out at least 2-3 weeks with fractured foot. He’s been the best of a RB trio.

This is a huge blow to the Sooners, losing one of their most versatile threats out of the backfield. In the win over Tennessee, one of the scores that Ford made was on a 29-yard touchdown pass from Trevor Knight.
In his place will more than likely be freshman Samaje Perine, who through the first few games of the season has been impressing the coaching staff, especially Stoops.
“Samaje gets in there in the second half, and again he’s fresh,” Sooners coach Bob Stoops said. “He gets in there and he is pounding it. He is a strong, physical player. He has a great base to him. He does everything you want. He catches the ball. He was a big boost there in the second half.”
