When the Chicago Bears re-signed Charles Tillman this past offseason, they knew it may be his final year in the NFL.

After all, Tillman needed convincing to return to the gridiron after dealing with a nasty triceps injury which cost him part of his 2013 campaign. Unfortunately, it’s more of the same for ‘Peanut’ as the safety suffered yet another damaging blow on Sunday night, again aggravating the same right arm that cost him a portion of his 2013 season.
The severity of the triceps injury is unknown, though Yahoo Sports questions if Charles Tillman has played his final down for the Chicago Bears.
"Now Tillman, who appeared to be in severe pain after he shoved 49ers receiver Michael Crabtree out of bounds on a play in the third quarter, might be done for his career. What a bitter moment in what eventually would be a dramatic comeback for the Bears."
Tillman is expected to undergo a battery of testing to determine his status moving forward, though it’s very possible the Chicago Bears could end up placing him on the injured reserve. As we’ve seen in the past, not only with Tillman but with others, recovery from a triceps injury is something that often takes a significant amount of time.
Keep in mind, there has been no concrete evidence to suggest Charles Tillman is done for the season and at 33, he could still continue on even if his season comes to premature end. Though given the fact that he’s already pondered hanging up the cleats, you have to think talk of retirement could be on the horizon.
