Florida DB Vernon Hargreaves III on Alabama game: We’re not looking at ourselves as underdogs
By Jack Crosby
The Florida Gators, after a miserable campaign in 2013, are off to a 2-0 start to the season this year, and are coming off a hard fought victory over the Kentucky Wildcats at home in three overtimes. That’s the good news. The bad news is that this Saturday, they have a date with the Alabama Crimson Tide on the road in Tuscaloosa, a game in which the Tide are heavily favored.

However, don’t tell sophomore defensive back Vernon Hargreaves III that, because that’s not how he nor his teammates see it.
In his first session with the media on Monday, Hargreaves expressed that while the world might be against them in this one, well the world outside of Gainesville, they see themselves as anything but underdogs in this one.
Now while some might laugh at this, and they will, this is probably the perfect mindset for this team to have walking into the environment they’re going to walk into this Saturday.
After that rough year last season, riddled with injuries, the Gators are searching for a game in which they can make a huge statement, and this is set up perfectly for that purpose.
Whether or not it can be done, we’ll find out on Saturday.
