Kobe Bryant knows his time atop the NBA isn’t going to last much longer. The Los Angeles Lakers guard has publicly stated that he’s aware he’s no longer the same player he once was, though he’s quick to point out he’s still among the NBA’s elite.

More from Los Angeles Lakers

That’s a sentiment shared by head coach Byron Scott who says he believes not only will Kobe Bryant own a scoring average over 20 points per game this season but he also believes Bryant will make a lot of his doubters ‘eat crow’.

“I see a guy who’s going to average 20 something points a game, will have a great year and have a lot of people eating crow,” Scott said Tuesday. “I’m glad people are saying [otherwise]. Keep adding it. It motivates him that much more. It makes my job easier.”

While many have doubted the Los Angeles Lakers this season, chatter about Kobe Bryant not returning to form has been few and far between. Everybody knows Bryant is an obsessive worker (potentially to an unhealthy level) so if he can get out of bed in the morning, he’s going to give a top notch effort regarding anything he does on a basketball court.

Still, we’ve seen Kobe take the smallest amount of criticism in the past and channel it into motivation, so it seems as if Byron Scott has a point there.

It won’t be all fun and games for Kobe and Scott however as while the Los Angeles Lakers coach was quick to give his star player praise, he also believes the two will butt heads this season.
