While the Miami Heat have their starting rotation solidified, they’re still unsure about their bench.

Even during LeBron James’ tenure with the franchise, the Miami Heat really didn’t much of a force in the middle. Last year they gave Greg Oden a try but that never really worked as well as most would have hoped. It was said the front office was interested in bringing Greg Oden back, but the former No. 1 overall pick recently found himself in legal trouble and understandably the Miami Heat decided to move on.
That doesn’t mean the Heat have given up the pursuit of a backup big man though as according to Barry Jackson, they’re still on the prowl.

While the power forward position is pretty deep with both Chris Bosh and Udonis Haslem, the center position is rather thin. Of course, that’s a sentiment that echos throughout the NBA so it’s not only the Miami Heat in need of a true big to clog the lane.
There have been rumors linking the Miami Heat to Emeka Okafor but the veteran is still recovering from injury and some believe he won’t be ready to play until mid-season. That of course doesn’t help the Heat who are in need right now.
No move appears to be imminent though it does seem as if a veteran big man will be signed before or soon after training camp starts.
