Will the Boston Celtics trade point guard Rajon Rondo this season? Some believe a move is inevitable though the franchise has adamantly stomped their feet that a trade will not happen.

In fact, head coach Brad Stevens has all but attempted to end any trade speculation as he recently stated Rajon Rondo is a ‘big’ part of what the Boston Celtics are doing moving forward.
“I love him. I really think he’s a big part of what we’re doing,” Stevens said. “Hopefully, he can have a great year right from the get-go. I thought last year was tough from the standpoint that he never did have a chance to do any drill work or to rebuild habits. He just had to be thrown into the fire.”
While it’s a nice thought on the part of Stevens, he’s not the one calling the shots. In fact, so often we see a team pound their chest to suggest there is no trade on the horizon only to have a move made down the road. That’s not to say the Boston Celtics will trade Rajon Rondo, though if he doesn’t commit to an extension you have to think a move is likely. There’s no way the Boston Celtics can risk losing their point guard to free agency and not get anything of value in return, so they along with Rondo will need to figure out what the future holds and do so quickly.
