Rajon Rondo rumors: Boston Celtics to deal Rondo in-season to highest bidder
Although his camp has denied the report, Boston Celtics’ point guard Rajon Rondo has reportedly asked for a trade. The Celtics, however, don’t seem like they’re in any hurry to deal him.

Steve Kyler of Basketball Insiders believes the Celtics will deal Rondo to the highest bidder during the early portion of the regular season.
"I don’t. I think he needs to play and prove he’s still that guy and Boston trades him. He can’t extend, he leaves money on the table doing that and Boston can’t risk Rondo walking to New York or LA and getting nothing in return in July. I think Boston plays him for 20-30 games and then deals him to the highest bidder."
This is probably the best course of action for the Celtics, who will likely continue to rebuild around their young talent.
Last season, Rondo averaged 11.7 points, 9.8 assists, 5.5 rebounds and 1.3 steals per game while shooting 40.3% from the field, 28.9% from beyond the arc and 62.7% from the free throw line. Rondo was originally selected by the Celtics with the 21st-overall pick in the 2006 NBA Draft. In his eight-year career, he has averaged 11.1 points, 8.4 assists, 4.6 rebounds and 1.9 steals per game while shooting 47.5% from the floor, 25.2% from three and 62.1% from the free throw line.
