Kaser is certainly one of the best punters in the country, but no punter has even come close to winning college football’s highest honor. Kaser is the creator of the Kaser for Heisman campaign because he actually thinks he should be in the discussion to win the Heisman trophy.
Last year, Kaser was a 2013 first-team All-American by The Sporting News and Sports Illustrated. He also was a finalist for the Ray Guy Award for college football’s top punter and he was 2013 first-team All-SEC.
Kaser then made the t-shirt shown above that sparked the #KaserForHeisman campaign with a t-shirt that read “Punters are people too” on the front.
Kaser will definitely see a lot of competition for the award this year including Oregon QB Marcus Mariota, Florida State QB Jameis Winston, Georgia RB Todd Gurley and even Texas A&M QB Kenny Hill just to name some. Kaser has a lot of work to do if he wants the top honor in college football on a team that doesn’t punt very often. He may have to ask a few favors to get some more kicks in during games.
