The Minnesota Vikings announced on Monday that they reinstated running back Adrian Peterson and expected him to play Sunday. Peterson was deactivated for the Vikings previous game against the New England Patriots due to child abuse charges levied at the running back.

However, given everything that’s taken place since the Vikings announcement, there’s still a good chance Peterson doesn’t suit up Sunday against the New Orleans Saints.
Don't be surprised if Vikings reverse course on letting Adrian Peterson play this Sunday. Hearing that Monday's decision could change.

After Minny’s activation of Peterson, KHOU 11 reported that Peterson was investigated in the past for a separate child abuse incident. The investigation was a year old and didn’t go anywhere, but it still served as a knock on Peterson in terms of public opinion.
Then, the Radisson temporarily removed its sponsorship of the Vikings. On Tuesday, more sponsors such as Anheuser-Busch released statements criticizing the NFL’s actions. Minnesota Governor Mark Dayton called for Peterson’s suspensions and there were reports that Nike stores in Minnesota were pulling Peterson gear from the shelf.
Needless to say, there is now enormous pressure on the NFL and the Vikings to come down hard on Peterson.
At this point, there’s more reason to believe Peterson won’t play Sunday than there is to believe he will, regardless of what the Vikings said on Monday.
The Vikings selected Peterson with the No. 7 overall pick in the 2007 NFL Draft.
