Denver Nuggets’ J.J. Hickson had his season come to a premature ending thanks to a torn ACL.

More from Denver Nuggets

Hickson, who has been inconsistent during his career, but played well for the Nuggets last season, is hoping to make a strong comeback and get healthy for the 2014-2015 season.

Whether or not he is healthy doesn’t matter, at least not for the first five games.

The NBA has suspended Hickson five games violating league’s anti-drug program for marijuana.

Hickson played in 69 games last season. He averaged 11.8 points, 9.2 rebounds and 1.4 assists per game while shooting 50.8% from the field and 51.7% from the free throw line. In his six-year NBA career, the 19th-overall pick of the 2008 NBA Draft has played for the Nuggets, Cleveland Cavaliers, Sacramento Kings and Portland Trail Blazers. The former North Carolina State Wolfpack star has put up 10.1 points, 7.2 rebounds and 0.9 assists per game while shooting 50.9% from the floor and 63.7% from the charity stripe.
