The Florida State Seminoles announced on Wednesday that quarterback Jameis Winston will not play for the entirety of the first half on Saturday night in the prime time game against the Clemson Tigers, as he has been suspended for some vulgar remarks that he made on Tuesday on campus.

Shortly after the announcement, Winston did step in front of the media as he was scheduled to do, and he expressed remorse for his actions that caused the suspension on Wednesday.
“I just want to apologize to the university, to my coaches and to my teammates,” Winston said.
“I’m not a ‘me’ person, but, in that situation, that was a selfless act. And that’s not how you do things around here.
“I want to apologize to my teammates because I have now made a selfish act for them.”
Prior to the announcement of the suspension, head coach Jimbo Fisher spoke on his teleconference about the incident and he noted that some sort of discipline could be coming down. It was not very long before we found out that he was not joking.
Starting in place of Winston will be Sean Maguire, whom Winston gave a vote of confidence toward.
“I’m going to make sure he does a great job because me and him are going to go to work,” Winston said.
This is not the first time that Winston has been in the media for something negative, which is beginning to wear thin with some people. It began with the rape allegations from last year, which he was eventually cleared of, and got a bit larger with the incident this past spring in which he stole crab legs from a local Publix.
Hopefully, this decision to sit him for a good portion of the biggest game of the season thus far will resonate with the redshirt sophomore going the rest of the way in his college career.
