For the second half of the game, the Atlanta Falcons may be without kick return star Devin Hester as he’s questionable to return because of cramps.

After a few average years on the Chicago Bears, many thought the Hester acquisition would be a lateral upgrade for the Falcons, but he’s proven to be extremely effective in the first three games of the season.

Tonight, Devin Hester has been responsible for 14 points–one on a 20-yard touchdown run and another on a record-breaking punt return which allowed Hester (20) to surpass Hall of Fame cornerback Deion Sanders (19) for most returns (punt and kick) from a player in NFL History.

If Hester is back to his electrifying self, his presence adds an extra threat to the Atlanta Falcons. An already threatening return man, he’s been useful within the offense alongside Matt Ryan and Julio Jones, whether in the receiving game or running game.

With the Atlanta Falcons up 35-0 early in the third quarter over Tampa Bay, there’s little reason for Hester to return to the game unless Mike Smith sees it suitable for Hester to continue getting reps in the return game and in the offense to better build chemistry for the long haul.
