iOS 8 change could challenge some privacy

For those of you who have downloaded the newest operating system for your iOS device, you may have noticed some of the more glaring changes.  However, there is one that is brought up with a double tap of the home button, that may infringe on some privacy issues.  iOS 8 is bringing your recent contacts for all to see.

Previously, either erasing a number from your call log, or deleting the message from your texting history would take care of any unwanted attention.  Now with a recent call log brought up by going to the app-switching screen, showing off who you’ve most recently talked to is easier than ever.

While that may be great and convenient for some, private conversations or those you don’t want known about are now brought out in the open with iOS 8.

Don’t fret though, we have you covered.

If you’d like to get rid of the recent contacts feature from the app switcher, simply go to Settings > Mail, Contacts, Calendar > Show In App Switcher.  Deactivating the option will hide the little bubbles showing off just who you have most recently interacted with.

At this point, it’s probably safe to assume this is somewhat of an oversight on Apple’s end.  While it may be convenient to have names stored, recent names should likely coincide with your call log.  If something is deleted, the recent contact should likely follow suit.

Look for Apple to possibly address the issue with iOS 8 in a future update.
