Roger Goodell has been the subject of a lot of criticism lately over his handling of the Ray Rice case and his press conference today helped nothing.

What helped even less was a report from ESPN that came out just hours after the presser that noted pretty blatant negligence on the part of the Baltimore Ravens when it came to being aware of and punishing Ray Rice for beating his wife. At the risk of sounding like abuse enablers, the Ravens are now scheduling a press conference of their own to try and clear the air on the deep reporting of ESPN.
We can only assume that this is going to go nothing less than swimmingly because Roger Goodell’s presser today went so well.
The fact that there was slow to no reaction on Ray Rice beating his wife, then all of a sudden the Ravens were leading the charge against domestic violence, reeked to begin with. All of these press conferences are backtracking in the most public form as every time a press conference is scheduled following some bombshell report, it’s the most undisguised ‘now wait just a minute’ retort ever.
