The Minnesota Timberwolves are all of a sudden an exciting young team to watch as they traded Kevin Love for a pair of recent former No. 1 picks and are looking to add more to their roster before the season starts.

Eric Bledsoe is one name that the Timberwolves are looking at trying to add and they’re prepared to offer him a max contract to get him to come north from Phoenix. According to Brian Windhorst from ESPN.com, the Wolves see Bledsoe as a sidekick for Andrew Wiggins — meaning this is a situation sans Ricky Rubio.

"The Wolves, who acquired No. 1 overall pick Andrew Wiggins after trading Love to the Cleveland Cavaliers last month, see Bledsoe as a strong running mate to their new franchise player and have made some aggressive offers to Phoenix to try to get them to accept a deal."

What this would mean is that Ricky Rubio isn’t part of the Wolves future as notice he’s not mentioned at all next to Wiggins. As soon as the former No. 1 pick arrived, there was talk of Wiggins being the face of the franchise and of the future — not Rubio.

This business with Eric Bledsoe seems to only confirm this as the Wolves know what they want and that apparently isn’t Rubio.
