According to an ESPN report from Brian Windhorst, the Timberwolves have put in a max offer for embattled Phoenix Suns guard Eric Bledsoe. This complicates things with current guard Ricky Rubio, but we may not know the whole story yet.
Jon Krawczynskifrom the Associated Press attempts to give everyone the full gist of the situation, and reports that the Timberwolves are actually working on a max deal with Ricky Rubio rather than one with Eric Bledsoe.
Krawczynski points out that the Wolves don’t have the cap space to sign Bledsoe, which means that he’d have to be acquired in a sign-and-trade.
What could be happening is the Wolves are signing Rubio to a max deal to then flip him in a sign-and-trade for Bledsoe. Phoenix doesn’t want to give Beldsoe the max and the Wolves don’t want to give Rubio the max but both teams seem to like what the other one has.
Of course, everything is still fluid, but the Wolves signing and trading Ricky Rubio is as possible at this point as the team working out a deal with that gives him everything he wants.
