The 18th ranked Missouri Tigers suffered a stunning loss to the Indiana Hoosiers at Faurot Field on Saturday afternoon. This was Indiana’s first win over a ranked team since they beat Iowa in 2006 .

Indiana struck first when Tevin Coleman found the end zone ten minutes into the game. Missouri answered quickly when Maty Mauk hooked up with Jimmie Hunt for a 45 yard touchdown. Coleman had a big game for Indiana in the upset, finishing with 132 yards rushing and a touchdown and 57 yards receiving.

Big plays were the order of the first half for Missouri. After another grinding Indiana touchdown drive, Tigers RB Russell Hansbrough took one 68 yards for a touchdown for another quick answer.

The Hoosier offense continued to wear down the Missouri defense, but the Hoosier defense didn’t hold up their end of the bargain. It was the Missouri offense that wore the clock down in the fourth quarter before taking a 27-24 lead on a 40 yard field goal from Andrew Baggett.

A crucial pass interference call on Brad McNulty on fourth and six gave the Hoosiers new life. On the very next play, Tevin Coleman took a short pass 44 yards to set up a four yard touchdown run by D’Angelo Roberts to give the Hoosiers a 31-27 lead with 22 second left.

Missouri had a chance to get back down the field, but the Indiana defense rattled Maty Mauk like they had been doing all game long. Mauk finished his day with a pass over the middle as time expired.

Missouri’s Bud Sasser had a nice game in a losing effort. He hauled in 12 catches for 153 yards, but did not find the end zone.

Missouri will try to rebound next week when they travel to South Carolina to try and avenge a heartbreaking loss to the Gamecocks last year.
