Oakland Raiders want to use Marcel Reece more often
By Bryan Rose
It’s been a rough start to the season for the Oakland Raiders, especially on the offensive side of the ball. Of course, that’s somewhat expected given the current state of the roster though offensive coordinator Greg Olson isn’t buying such an argument.

In fact, Olson is understandably frustrated with the Raiders lack of offense this season and hinted Marcel Reece’s lack of use could be a reason for it.
“We have to be a little bit aware early in the game of getting him involved early,” Olson said. “We only had 20 snaps again in the first half. There were things designed to him. … We had some things there it just didn’t end up going there. We’ll continue to find ways to utilize Marcel.”
Through Week 2 the Oakland Raiders have only given Marcel Reece four touches, an especially odd situation given the injury to Maurice Jones-Drew.
Reece is unlikely to ever be a star talent, though a jack-of-all-trades type player, he could certainly be of use to the Raiders. He’d also give rookie quarterback Derek Carr an additional safety blanket, though Carr doesn’t exactly seem to need such as he’s played relatively well given his situation.
As for Marcel Reece, he says he’s frustrated though not with his role, just the inability of the Oakland Raiders to get in the win column.
Things won’t get any easier on Sunday afternoon as Reece and his Raiders will visit the New England Patriots.
