The Phoenix Suns and restricted free agent guard Eric Bledsoe have not been able to come to an agreement on a deal. On Friday, a report surfaced that the Minnesota Timberwolves were making another run at Bledsoe and were prepared to offer a max deal but were trying to work out a sign-and-trade. Earlier in the summer, Bledsoe turned down the Suns’ four-year, $48 million offer.

Jabari Davis of Basketball Insiders believes Bledsoe and his agent, Rich Paul, have taken a huge risk by turning down the Suns’ offer.

"We know they would have to either shed salary or work out a sign-&-trade due to being somewhere around the $71 million mark. It will be interesting to see if they are able to work something out and if it comes down to finding a third party to connect the dots.Either way, like you, I thought this was a big risk by Bledsoe and Rich Paul. I thought the reported 4/48 deal was actually most realistic when you factored in the injury concerns, but I absolutely give them props for potentially finding him that max deal."

Because of Bledsoe’s injury history, Davis is right. However, if there really is a max deal out there from the Timberwolves, he made the right choice.

Bledsoe averaged 17.7 points, 5.5 assists, 4.7 rebounds and 1.6 steals per game while shooting 47.7% from the field, 35.7% from beyond the arc and 77.2% from the free throw line last season. In his four-year NBA career, the 18th-overall pick in the first round of the 2010 NBA draft, has averaged 8.7 points, 3.4 assists, 3.0 rebounds and 1.3 steals per game while shooting 44.5% from the floor, 32.7% from three and 75.8% from the charity stripe.
