It’s safe to say that last season was not the finest for the New York Knicks. Things seemingly became better once Phil Jackson was brought aboard, though in typical Jackson fashion, drama is soon to follow.

Case in point, Phil Jackson’s most recent comments regarding former center Tyson Chandler. The big man was traded to the Dallas Mavericks earlier this offseason and quickly became a scapegoat for Jackson, who blasted the veteran, especially blaming he for the franchises recent woes.

Chandler was quick to defend himself, which makes Basketball Insiders wonder if Phil Jackson was attempting to save face by blaming those no longer with the organization.

"Also, it must be noted that Jackson is a master of making public statements about players in order to motivate them, or get some other desired result. Here, Jackson may have been looking to put the blame for last season on players who were heading out of town, while relieving the returning players from any role they may have played."

We’ve seen Phil Jackson build a career off using his words strategically, though it’s a bit shameful if he’s using a former player to put himself and the New York Knicks in a better position.

Tyson Chandler hasn’t ever been a guy deemed to have character issues and while the New York Knicks’ locker room may not have been the most fun place to be last season, it seems rather questionable to think Tyson Chandler was behind that.
