Another week, another Miami Dolphins loss

The Miami Dolphins have had some of the most interesting games in NFL thus far.

There have been times where they have looked supremely dominant and there have been times when they looked completely overwhelmed.

Entering into the fourth week of the season, I am still proclaiming that this Dolphins team is ready for a change.

Gone are their ways of the past — breaking hearts around the community in South Florida. However, like a candle standing next to a fan, my faith is starting to dwindle.

When the Kansas City Chiefs walked into town, more heartbreak occurred. The Dolphins were easily handled by the Chiefs 34-15 in front of a large 4:30 pm Miami Gardens crowd.

Bienvenido a Miami

“Miami Dolphins, Miami Dolphins, Miami Dolphins are number one.”

This song did not play enough because the Dolphins offense was not present. For much of the game, the Chiefs only had 21 points and still managed to finish with 35 points.

Know why? Because the offense could not give their defense a break. With the score deadlocked at zero in the second quarter of the game, the Dolphins never found their rhythm offensively. The reason the offense was so anemic was because of the aggressive nature of the Chiefs pass rush.

The former Chiefs Pro Bowl left tackle Branden Albert welcomed his former team against his new team. Albert played like a man on who couldn’t find a block, and his team suffered because of it. The Chiefs managed to record four sacks on Ryan Tannehill and for the second game in a row, he was never comfortable.

This offensive line was just torched when they played against the Buffalo Bills last week, and Tannehill turned into a punching bag for the Bills defensive line.

Normally a raucous Chiefs defensive line was even more rowdy and routinely got hits in on Tannehill. This week the Chiefs also got their punches in. They finished the game adding eight quarterback hits.

Knile Knife Davis Cuts The Dolphins

The Dolphins had no answer for Knile Davis during this game.

He rushed for 132 yards and a touchdown. While accumulating all of his yards on the ground, he also finished with a 4.1 yards per carry average.

What made Davis so effective against the Dolphins was that he had the ability to make shifts and cuts to make defenders miss and then ran for long runs. His longest run was 21 yards which was an elusive touchdown run.

Davis played well and scorched the Dolphins run defense.

Alex Smith is Worth the Contract

The Chiefs are never going to lose a game with Alex Smith as the one to blame. This game they depended on their newly extended quarterback because they needed a win in the worst way entering into their week three matchup.

Smith played like he was in the middle of a playoff game, and it showed. Smith carved the Dolphins for only 186 yards but he managed to throw three touchdowns, no interceptions and completed 76 percent of his passes finishing the game 19-for-25. The strategy that Smith employs on the football field is to force the defense to make the mistakes and to not let his team down offensively.

People can call Smith a game manager because he may throw to his check down often, or even take the easy shots down the field, but there is no shame in his game. He finds a way to stay efficient completing the passes that the defense gives him.

Because of his cool ability to stay the course and stay patient in games, he often picks apart the defense and does not make mistakes.

In a sport where turnovers are the mostly costly mistakes, the Dolphins could not force Smith into committing many.

The Dolphins next week play against the Oakland Raiders, in a must win game. Just get the win done, please.
