The New York Giants are seeing some improvement from first round pick Odell Beckham but not enough to activate the former LSU Tigers wide receiver for their Week 4 game against Washington.

“I think there’s improvement with Odell as there has been every week,” Coughlin said. “I don’t believe he’s there. We’re trying to be as patient as we can with the idea that, when we get him back, we’re going to have him.”
Beckham has been sidelined since July 22 because of a hamstring injury and the team has played it safe and conservative with the No. 12 overall pick in the 2014 NFL Draft in the hopes of avoiding a setback which is known to happen with hamstring injuries.
Considering Beckham is a speedy, explosive player, having his hamstring at 100 percent is imperative so he can open it up and run at full speed without fear that his hamstring is going to cause him to miss even more time.
Last year’s Paul Hornung Award winner as the nation’s most versatile player, Beckham was drafted with the hopes he could form a nice tandem with Victor Cruz and give Eli Manning a secondary target to work with in the team’s new offense and help in the return game.
The Giants are holding out hope that Beckham will be able to return to practice and return in time for the Week 5 game against the Atlanta Falcons, according to ESPN New York Giants reporter Dan Graziano, but it would be best not to hold your breath until Beckham can hit the practice field two days in a row.
