Football fans everywhere have long been scratching their heads at the idea the Baltimore Ravens and NFL did not have access to the video of Ray Rice assaulting his then-fiancee in a casino elevator in February until it was made public in September via TMZ Sports.

Well, finally, the Ravens are acknowledging the absurdity of their claims, with owner Steve Bisciotti saying on Monday that he could have had the video if he had asked for it.

From Fox Sports:

"“I’m sorry I didn’t push harder to get that tape,” he said. “There is no excuse for me to not have demanded that video…I’m deeply sorry for that. If I had demanded it, I would have gotten it.”"

However, that was about all Bisciotti copped to on Monday. He spent much of the day denying the veracity of an ESPN report by Don Van Natta Jr. and Kevin Van Valkenburg that outlined how the Ravens had mishandled Rice’s domestic abuse.

"“It took (ESPN) 11 days day to write (the story) and they gave us two hours to respond,” Bisciotti said.  “I think is what’s obvious is that the majority of the sources are people that work for Ray. Almost everything in there is anonymous. … They are building a case for reinstatement. The best way to do that is make everyone else look like they’re lying.”"

The Ravens released Rice in September shortly after TMZ Sports posted the damning video on its website.
