Seahawks’ Russell Wilson wanted overtime against Broncos
By Mike Dyce
The Denver Broncos and Seattle Seahawks played in a rematch of Super Bowl 48. The game was vastly different than the blow out that the Broncos endured on the sport’s biggest stage, but they were trailing and needed a second half come back to tie the game and force over time.

That was perfectly fine with Seahawks quarterback Russell Wilson, who admitted to Peter King of TheMMQB.com he was rooting for overtime.
“I know I shouldn’t say this,” Wilson said, “but I actually wanted overtime. Of course I want to win in regulation, but overtime is so much fun. I live for those moments.”
It certainly took an already intriguing match up between two of the league’s best teams and made for a thrilling contest. It was a pleasant distraction from the off-field drama hanging over the NFL, and Wilson acknowledged that.
“The NFL needed this game,” Wilson said.
In overtime the Seattle Seahawks won the coin toss and possession. They drove down the field and got a touchdown to win the game, a six-yard run from Marshawn Lynch serving as the clincher.
Had they been held to a field goal, the Broncos would’ve had an opportunity to score as well. Instead, Wilson drove down the field and got the score the Seahawks needed to clinch the game.
