42 year-old Houston Alexander is best known for bursting on the scene with quick-and-brutal knockout victories over Keith Jardine and Alessio Sakara, but failed to live up to expectations. Since joining Bellator, Alexander suffered a loss to Vladmir Matyushenko before a TKO victory over Matt Uhde in April.
‘The Assassin’ has won three of his last four contests, and will make the move up from 205lbs to challenge the Brit, James Thompson. Now in the later stages of his career, Alexander will look to test his mettle against a known name in the world of MMA.
James Thompson entered the Bellator cage for the first time in June, finishing Eric Prindle early in the opening stanza. Unbeaten in his last six, Thompson has entered a run of form when it mattered most, and now looks to establish himself in the heavyweight frame.
Bellator 129 is expected to be headlined by a welterweight contest between Josh Neer and Paul Bradley on October 17 in Council Bluffs, Iowa.
