The Atlanta Braves fired general manager Frank Wren on Monday. At that point they dubbed John Hart their interim general manager.

It sounds like the Braves are wasting little time in trying to fill that vacancy permanently, and they would like to have Hart be the man to do it.

Jeff Passan on Yahoo! reports that the Braves have formally offered the job to Hart, who is considering whether or not to take the job.

"Braves president John Schuerholz offered Hart the option of taking over the team’s GM duties full-time, sources told Yahoo Sports. Before making a decision, Hart told Schuerholz he needed to give it serious thought, sources said."

Hart has spent the last number of seasons as an analyst on MLB Network, often drawing on his experience as an executive to frame his thoughts. Prior to that, he had served in the front offices for the Cleveland Indians and Texas Rangers. He had been serving as a senior adviser to the Braves prior to being named interim GM on Monday.

The Braves appear to have little doubt that they believe Hart is the right man for the job. If he declines, he will still play in a key role in hiring a new general manager for the organization.
