LeBron James is back in Cleveland this year, Kevin Love joined rank not long after that and a slew of veterans have been added to the roster. But nevertheless, the roster is devastatingly incomplete as a rim protector is nowhere to be seen.

More from Cleveland Cavaliers

This is an issue that may plague the Cavs all season long and it’s their biggest weakness at the moment. But if you’re looking for a quick fix — outside of starting the undersized Tristan Thompson at the five — Cavs could be waiting a long time.

NBA scribe Chuck Myron opines, there is a good chance that the team is still looking for a rim protector when the season starts and for most of the year.

"Pretty high. There really isn’t anyone on the free agent market who can fill that role (Emeka Okafor, in each of his last two healthy seasons, averaged just 1 block per game). Trades generally don’t happen this time of year, with a few exceptions. Why not go into the season and see what you’ve got? It’s possible that the mix they have right now will work just fine, and that they won’t have to sacrifice assets to tinker with the roster."

The Cavaliers need rim protection as it’s their most devastating flaw at the moment with this current roster. There really isn’t anyone on the market that can help them out right now, as Emeka Okafor is banged up, Hasheem Thabeet is only so-so and in Detroit now and Ronny Turiaf plays in Minnesota.

Someone will fill the hole, but it won’t be an issue that gets fixed right away.
