As if there was any doubt that the Minnesota Vikings offense will be run by rookie first-round pick Teddy Bridgewater, now it’s official that he will be the starting quarterback for the rest of the season, as the Vikings have placed former starter Matt Cassel on injured reserve.

More from College Football

During the team’s loss to the New Orleans Saints last weekend, Cassel had to exit the game after suffering a foot injury. After being evaluated, it was found that Cassel suffered broken bones in the foot, effectively ending his season and putting Bridgewater right into the spotlight, something a lot of people have wanted since day one.

With this move, another former Vikings starter, Christian Ponder, will step up into the backup role after being demoted to third-string this season with the arrival of Bridgewater.

But aside from the moves here, the news out of all of this that everyone is concentrating on is the fact that Bridegwater is now handling the reins.

After some underwhelming workouts for some, Bridgewater slipped all the way down to the end of the first round. When he was available with the final pick, the Vikings traded with the Super Bowl champion Seattle Seahawks to jump in and grab him, making him the future face of the franchise.

Now, it’s time to see if he can prove all of the doubters wrong.
