On Monday afternoon Miami Dolphins head coach Joe Philbin refused to comment regarding the status of Ryan Tannehill as the starting quarterback.

More from Miami Dolphins

Much of the same continued though both Tuesday and Wednesday as Philbin continued his desire not to commit to Tannehill. That apparently didn’t sit well with the Miami Dolphins locker room, at least according to Ryan Tannehill who says his coach created a locker room distraction with the uncertainty.

For what it’s worth, backup quarterback Matt Moore says he hasn’t even taken a rep with the first team in practice this week which would lead many to believe Ryan Tannehill would be Miami’s starting quarterback this week.

Still, the fact that Ryan Tannehill decided to call out Joe Philbin took some massive balls and it should be interesting to see how their relationship moves forward. That’s not to say Tannehill did anything wrong as the choice of wording from Philbin likely did create some tension in the Miami Dolphins locker room, though going against the coaches word isn’t going to sit well.

Certainly sounds like there is potential for fireworks in South Beach, especially if Philbin takes offense to Tannehill’s comments. To be a fly on the wall in the weekly quarterback meeting.
