Boston Celtics’ guard Keith Bogans has had a nice NBA career and is known as a plus defender. And now, he will be a member of the Cleveland Cavaliers.

More from Boston Celtics

Bogans averaged 2.0 points, 0.5 rebounds and 0.5 assists while shooting 50.0% from the field, 50.0% from beyond the arc and 100.0% from the free throw line in only six games last seasons. Bogans, the 43rd-overall pick in the second round of the 2003 NBA Draft has played for the Orlando Magic (twice), Charlotte Hornets (Bobcats), Houston Rockets, Milwaukee Bucks, San Antonio Spurs, Chicago Bulls, Brooklyn Nets and Celtics. He’s averaged 6.3 points, 2.7 rebounds and 1.3 assists per game while shooting 39.4% from the floor, 35.3% from beyond the arc and 71.6% from the charity stripe in his 11-year career.

However, the Cavaliers aren’t dealing for him because of his skill – they’re dealing for him because of his contract.

According to Marc Stein of ESPN.com, the Cavaliers are sending Erik Murphy, John Lucas and Malcolm Thomas to the Celtics.

As Mark Deeks of Sham Sports points out, that gives the Cavaliers a ton of unguaranteed money to potentially make a deal with.

The Cavaliers obviously have their eyes on another big prize.
