It’s been a rough start to the season for Green Bay Packers running back Eddie Lacy. Not only has the former Alabama talent questioned himself, head coach Mike McCarthy called out the former Rookie of the Year for his poor play.

Unhappy with how things have went, Lacy spent much of this past week in the video room and he thinks he found out why he’s been having so many issues running the ball this season. Is it poor feet placement? Not taking the right hole? Nope, in fact Lacy believes it’s simply a matter of better pad placement.
“I need to work on keeping my pads low,” Lacy said. “There were a few times last week where I was running kind of high, and I just figured that out. This week, definitely get my pads down when I’m running.”
Leverage is always key to being an effective running back and that’s part of the reason we often see back’s lacking height perform so well.
One thing Eddie Lacy isn’t worried about is handling the rock as despite a fumble during Week 3’s loss, Lacy is confident in his ability to secure the football.
“It’s always a point of emphasis,” Eddie Lacy said. “As a ballcarrier, it’s your job to make sure it’s secure. It comes out from time to time, but it just can’t be a big issue.”
Fresh off an 11-carry, 36-yard performance, the Green Bay Packers running back is ready to have his coming out party against the Chicago Bears this Sunday. He’ll need a spirited effort from the offensive line though, who has struggled along with Lacy to start the season.
