Joe Flacco calls Ravens WR Steve Smith a ‘maniac’
In thirteen remarkable seasons with the Carolina Panthers, Steve Smith, a future Hall of Famer, put up over 800 receptions and more than 12,000 yards. That’s a lot of production for such a little man. At 5’9 Smith resembles more of cornerback than the modern prototype for the NFL wide receiver.

Still, that hasn’t stopped Smith from reaching five pro bowls as one of the most electrifying offensive players the game has ever scene.
Smith thought he he’d finish his entire career with Carolina, but as fate would have it he’s set to line up against his former club this Sunday. At 35, he still has all the confidence that he did as a rookie, and his teammates believe in him as well. But Joe Flacco, well, he just thinks Smith is a “maniac.” ESPN picked up Flacco’s thoughts on Smith:
"“If I pay attention to that maniac on Sunday, who knows how I’m going to play? He’s going to want the ball — probably every single down — and if I don’t get it to him and I pay attention to how he reacts to that, then I’m going to be in trouble and I’m going to feel bad, and then we’re not going to play the way we should.”"
If Flacco already feels the pressure from Smith, imagine what he’ll be going through on Sunday with Smith wanting to stick it to his former ball club…
