Alex Kennedy of Basketball Insiders believes Antetokounmpo is in for a big season.
"I think Giannis is going to have a very good season. Last year, he didn’t play a whole lot and didn’t have a huge role, but it seems like that is going to change this season under Jason Kidd. I’m curious to see how he does at point guard this season. I think it’ll be a difficult transition for him at first, but I could see him eventually thriving in the point forward role. Based on how he looked in summer league and his expanded role, I think 12 points, five rebounds, three assists, a block and a steal is a realistic stat line for him. It’s important to remember that he’s still very young and raw though, so I wouldn’t expect a superstar leap from him. Keep an eye on him over the next few years though because he has the potential to be a very special player down the road."
New Bucks’ head coach Jason Kidd plans to use Antetokounmpo as a point guard which should be an experiment that is very fund to watch this season. Even if Antetokounmpo is ultimately a wing player like most think, this could help his development.
Antetokounmpo averaged 6.8 points, 4.4 rebounds and 1.9 assists per game while shooting 41.4% from the field, 34.7% from beyond the arc and 68.3% from the free throw line last season.
