New Orleans Pelicans’ guard Eric Gordon is a very talented scorer but has been plagued by turnovers throughout his career. Gordon believes he is finally healthy and is ready to contribute.

Gordon himself believes he is in for a big year and Alex Kennedy of Basketball Insiders could see it happening as well.

"“These past three years have been kind of tough, having a surgery each year to deal with in the summer,” Gordon said. “To be able to play like I am, I need a full summer where I can be able to be myself and do the things that I’m normally doing. But it’s going to come back this year. [I’m] just working on my game, trying to get all of my explosiveness back and just looking forward to having a good year.”We’ll see if he can deliver. He makes an interesting point though, because it is very difficult for a player to get better when they’re constantly healing and doing rehab rather than working out and improving over the summer. I know a lot of people have written Eric off and believe he’ll never return to form, but now that he’s healthy, this is the best shot he’s had in awhile. I’m excited to see how he does this year."

If Gordon can stay healthy and deliver, the Pelicans could find themselves in the postseason (although it will be tough in that loaded Western Conference).

Gordon averaged 15.4 points, 3.3 assists, 2.6 rebounds and 1.2 steals per game while shooting 43.6% from the floor, 39.1% from three and 78.5% from the charity stripe last season. Gordon was the seventh-overall pick in the first round of the 2008 NBA Draft by the Lo Angeles Clippers. He was dealt to the Pelicans (then-Hornets) after the 2010-2011 season in the Chris Paul trade. In his six-year career, he’s put up 17.5 points, 3.3 assists, 2.5 rebounds and 1.2 steals per game while shooting 44.2% from the field, 39.1% from beyond the arc and 80.9% from the free throw line.
