Lampard spent most of his career at Chelsea, before coming to the end of his contract in the summer and becoming a free agent. New MLS franchise New York City snapped up the experienced midfielder and he looks to be in fine form.

New York allowed Lampard out on loan, using their ties with Manchester City (who co-own the team’s expansion rights along with the New York Yankees) to allow him to maintain fitness and match sharpness in England. David Villa is the other big name player to have joined the New York City roster and the start of the 2015 MLS Season can’t come soon enough for soccer fans.
He refused to celebrate out of respect and looked almost embarrassed to have scored (after scoring against Chelsea)
Frank Lampard came on in the second half of a Premier League game on Sunday against his old team Chelsea. His former fans gave him an incredible reception, showing he still had a place in their hearts. However, with Manchester City 1-0 down heading into the final minutes, Lampard popped up in typical fashion, denying his former side the win. He refused to celebrate out of respect and looked almost embarrassed to have scored.
He continued his scoring yesterday, grabbing two goals in the Capital One Cup against Sheffield Wednesday. Lampard has always had an exceptional scoring record for a midfielder, bagging double-figures of goals in 9 consecutive seasons for Chelsea. New York City fans will hope he can continue this record for them when the season starts.
