With running back Jamal Charles already sidelined with an injury, it appears the injury bug has bitten the Kansas City Chiefs once again, and this time it appears to be a season ender. Running back Joe McKnight has suffered a torn Achilles tendon. McKnight looks like he will miss the rest of this season and there is no timetable at this time for his return to the field. This is a sizable loss for the Chiefs as McKnight had been having his best season of his career so far in 2014, including catching two touchdown passes last Sunday in the Chiefs’ win over the Dolphins in Sun Life Stadium.

With Charles battling injury, McKnight had been splitting carries with Knile Davis in the Kansas City backfield and looked to be even more featured in the running game going forward. Charles may return this week or next but either way the Chiefs will be forced to place the majority of rushing responsibility on Davis for the next few weeks.
Kansas City will also look for production from rookie running back Deanthony Thomas once he returns back from injury as well. Thomas is listed as questionable this week and has been used primarily as a kick returner so far in his young career. Look for Andy Reid to incorporate him into the running game moving forward and do what he can to get the ball in his hands in space.
