Nebraska football hero Jack Hoffman celebrates 9th birthday
For Nebraska football fans, Jack Hoffman’s 69-yard touchdown run in the 2013 Red-White spring game scrimmage is etched in Nebraska lore right next to every national title.
To those of you who may forgotten, Hoffman’s been fighting pediatric brain cancer and a groundswell of support came thanks to that dash. He was seven years old in the video. Today, he celebrates his ninth birthday with best buddy Rex Burkhead and Husker Nation right along with him.
Hoffman’s cancer went into remission in October 2013. It looked like there was a chance for him to finally get to experience what a regular little boy should. Then, come August 2014, his cancer returned and his brain tumor began to grow.

Despite the challenges put in Hoffman’s path, he’s never deterred. Every interview that’s even been given by the young man shows a strength and resolve normally reserved for those who will not be denied.
It’s this determination that rallies everyone that claims membership to “Team Jack” to cheer for him, believe all will be okay, know it will. Everyone who celebrates Jack’s birthday today looks forward to celebrate his tenth next year and all that come after for a long, long time.
